Over the years, the monarchies have had various challenges – some found themselves weakened and then came to power. After all, the Normans, the powerful people that controlled most of what was once the kingdom of southern England, began to disintegrate.

With this in mind, it is straightforward that the efforts of the English to dismember the Shire territory were limited. The Normans would always seek out the rebellious members of the local area to the east and south. As such, the Normans would try to take control of the northern part of what is now the UK and parts of southern France until they could take the capital at Boulogne in 1283.

Under these different scenarios, it is easy to see that the English kings, for one reason or the other, always sought to
